Em and Kate are two sisters suffering from similar health conditions. Together, they have learned to overcome their illnesses and inspire others. This was not an easy thing to do by any means, but together they have persevered and made their mark in the chronic illness community.
When Em first got sick, as anyone would be, she was confused about what was happening to her body. Constantly feeling nauseous and unable to get out of bed, she found life very difficult. Soon after Em became sick, Kate also started exhibiting symptoms suggesting that there was something wrong. After a long and grueling process, both sisters were diagnosed with a number of medical conditions including: Lupis, Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome, Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and Mast cell activation disorder. Although they did not have their health, they had each other. They were there to support one another and cheer each other on during this long process. Constantly trying to strike the right balance and keep everything at bay, the two have met with a variety of specialists and nutritionists. Throughout their journey they have learned many tricks and tips that have helped them.
From first glance, you would never be able to tell that Em and Kate are any different from your average person. They look like two beautiful girls with no problems in the world. However, although they look great it is often the case that they do not feel as good as they look. This is because Kate and Em suffer from invisible illnesses. An invisible illness is an illness that you cannot necessarily see by first glance, but nevertheless, it is still very much real. In order to raise awareness about invisible illnesses, Em and Kate started their blog Two Being Healthy. On their website they write about how they stay “healthy” through nutrition, and different health products. They hope that not only will their website educate people about invisible illnesses, but that it will also serve as a reminder to those living with chronic illness that they are not alone. It is easy to feel isolated and on your own when you have a chronic illness, but just as they support each other with their positive and enlightening spirits, Em and Kate also support complete strangers who are going through similar health challenges. Through their website, the two sisters have been able to inspire and move people from all over while also raising awareness for invisible illness.
